Hello, my name is Chris 👋
I’m a native 🇬🇧 British English tutor with a passion for sharing my language with you! I currently live in Greater Tokyo, Japan and I study 🇯🇵 Japanese, so I understand what learning a second language is like and really admire people who are learning English!
My lessons are relaxed and informal and great for people who are a little unsure, or worried about their English ability. I will adjust my speaking speed and choice of words for your level of English, and help you say what you want to say, so please don’t worry! 😌
ℹ️ Please note: I don’t teach formal grammar or exam preparation lessons! In my lessons you can practice the four core language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, and you can choose which skills we focus on in your lessons! 🙂
For example, if you only want to focus on speaking, that’s great. Or, maybe you just want to focus on reading and writing – you decide 👍
🔴 Speaking
I’ll encourage you to speak, and help build your confidence in speaking English. I’ll recognise common mistakes you may make and provide feedback for you during the lesson. I’ll also make a list of any unknown vocabulary or phrases for you to use when the lesson has finished.
🔵 Reading
Sometimes there’s a book or some text you really want to read but it’s too hard! We’ll work together to help you read any kind of text you want. I’ll explain the meaning of any words and phrases you don’t know, and provide you with a list for studying after the lesson.
🟢 Listening
Show me a video or Podcast on YouTube that you’re having a hard time listening to (or I can pick some for you!). We will break down the video together and find out where the problem areas are. If there’s any unknown vocabulary or phrases I’ll provide a list of these for you to study in your own time.
🟡 Writing
Choose a topic you want to write about (or I can pick some for you!). We can write the text together during the lesson, or you can bring some text you have already written to the lesson. I’ll try to explain any mistakes you have made and provide you with a list of these and some extra example sentences for you to study afterwards.
